Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Piper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cooper comes to the cage accompanied by Here Comes the Boom. James Piper will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Piper!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piper closes the distance and clinches up with Cooper, looking for a takedown. Piper pushes Cooper against the cage but Cooper circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cooper tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Piper showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cooper.
Cooper shoots in and drives through. Piper sprawls well.
Piper looks to land a combination but Cooper avoids it well.
Piper scoring well with a low kick there.

and Piper counters with a low kick, right behind Cooper 's knee.
Cooper keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Cooper shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cooper tries to land a body kick
and Piper counters with a slapping leg kick.

Cooper forces Piper back against the cage and clinches.
Piper can't break the clinch.
Piper is trying to break the clinch but Cooper has him pressed against the cage.

Piper escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Cooper dodges the punch combination from Piper.
Cooper tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Piper stuffs the takedown attempt from Cooper. Cooper gets slowly back to his feet.

Piper scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Piper throws a low kick, looking for Cooper's leg but Cooper calmly moves out of range.

Cooper scores with a one two! Piper had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Piper throws a combination. Cooper tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Piper shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cooper pinned against the cage. Cooper gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cooper shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cooper was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cooper can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Piper is looking to escape.

That was a close round but I would say that Danny Cooper will probably get the nod.
That's time! Cooper's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Piper throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cooper.

Cooper looks for a takedown but Piper sprawls well.
A jab lands there for Piper.
Cooper shoots in and drives through. Piper sprawls well.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Piper regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Cooper.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooper postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Piper is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cooper, into his guard.
Cooper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Piper tries to stand but Cooper is controlling from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cooper is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Piper dives into side control.

Piper decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cooper to his feet.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Piper.
Piper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cooper swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Piper misses with a two punch combination.
Piper lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Piper misses the jab.

Cooper closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Piper is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cooper is controlling him well.

Piper is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Cooper throwing strikes but Piper manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Piper has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Cooper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Piper's waist but Piper gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cooper off to one side.

That was a close second round but I would say that Danny Cooper will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Cooper looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Piper is fending him off so far but Cooper persists. Nope, Piper circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cooper cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Piper is squirming around, avoiding Cooper's attempts to control the action.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Piper's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cooper cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Piper is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cooper in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Piper is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Cooper wants to control the pace but Piper is squirming around nicely.
Cooper fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Cooper takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Piper squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Cooper looking to control but Piper is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Piper wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Cooper.
Piper is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Cooper looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Cooper goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Piper turns into him and now he's in Cooper's guard.
James Piper has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Piper gets to his feet - Cooper follows without any prompting.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cooper darts in trying to clinch
and Piper counters with a one-two to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Danny Cooper.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cooper, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
