The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brona swinging wildly here.
Brona misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Brona looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

It looks like Paul Sutherland has been cut.

Sutherland takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Brona throws a right hand that Sutherland ducks under and follows up with a left that Sutherland also avoids with ease.
Sutherland takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Brona is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sutherland throws a front kick aimed at Brona's knee but Brona avoids it well.
Sutherland tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brona was well out of range. Poor timing from Sutherland.
Sutherland finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

A looping hook to the body misses from Sutherland. Brona does a little dance to reset his feet.
Brona steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Sutherland. That one must have hurt.
Sutherland bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Brona throws a right hand that Sutherland ducks under and follows up with a left that Sutherland also avoids with ease.
Brona ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Brona shoots in looking for a takedown but Sutherland manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brona's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for DJ Brona. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sutherland rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brona moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
No joy there for Sutherland, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Brona decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sutherland's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sutherland utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sutherland is pulling down on Brona's head. It's preventing any offense from Brona, at least for the moment.
Brona throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Brona postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We've been hearing that Brona has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Brona tries to free his leg and advance position but Sutherland is retaining full guard.

Brona drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sutherland dives on top into guard.

Brona is trying to control the position but Sutherland postures up.

DJ Brona has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Sutherland takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Brona.
Sutherland dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sutherland lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Sutherland dodges the punch combination from Brona.
Sutherland lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sutherland scores with a head kick. Brona tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

and Brona counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Sutherland walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Brona tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sutherland swivels and escapes.
Sutherland just misses with a punch to the body.
Brona feints with a jab and clips Sutherland right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Sutherland is sent crashing into the canvas and Brona leaps in for the kill! Sutherland tries to get to his feet but Brona is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Sutherland is in need of a savior and steps in!

DJ Brona tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
