PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Angel Mcknight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Major Major (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Major has chosen Iron Man as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Angel Mcknight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Major Major!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcknight shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mcknight was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Major is trying to improve his position.

Mcknight tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcknight has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Major's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Major tries to buck Mcknight off but Mcknight is having none of it.

Major looking to break Mcknight's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Mcknight remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Major will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Major has his foot on Mcknight's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mcknight works his way back into a safe position though.

Major had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mcknight defends it easily.

Major is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Major is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mcknight is controlling him.
Mcknight is looking to stand up but Major won't let him.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Major can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mcknight wants to control from the top but Major keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We're going to have a standup here because Angel Mcknight wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Major tries to close the distance and clinch but Mcknight swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Mcknight got a little sloppy there for a moment and Major has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mcknight has managed to get both his arms back between Major's legs - danger averted.
Mcknight has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Major will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Mcknight stands and steps away. Major gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

It looks like Major Major has been cut.
Major misses with a low kick.

Major shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Major is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That was a close second round but I would say that Angel Mcknight will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Major Major's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Major is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mcknight pulls his head out easily.

Mcknight wants to take a breather but Major is having none of it.

Mcknight misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mcknight throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Major gets back to half guard.

Major has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mcknight is working away from the top position though.

Mcknight is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Major doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mcknight.

Mcknight is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Major is just riding it out for now. Mcknight eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Angel Mcknight.
I think Mcknight has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
