PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Todd Duffee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Sapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Todd Duffee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Sapp!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sapp feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Duffee sprawling to the canvas! Duffee rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Sapp finish him?!


It looks like Todd Duffee has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sapp tries to clinch but Duffee moves out of range.
Duffee has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Sapp tries to close the distance and clinch up but Duffee swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sapp shoots in for a double leg but Duffee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Duffee prevents Sapp from improving his position.

Sapp throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Sapp utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Duffee won't allow Sapp to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bob Sapp was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Duffee closes the distance and pushes Sapp back into the cage.

Sapp pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Some wild striking there from Duffee.
Duffee misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sapp fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sapp shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Sapp closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Duffee can't do much from the bottom here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Duffee has one of Sapp's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sapp wants to stand but Duffee is controlling his arm.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Duffee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sapp sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Duffee somewhat.
Duffee tries to close the distance and clinch but Sapp swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sapp has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Duffee is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Todd Duffee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bob Sapp seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sapp dips to his left and cracks Duffee with an uppercut!
Sapp tries to clinch but Duffee moves out of range.

and Duffee counters by moving into the clinch.

Sapp is trying to break free.
Sapp has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Sapp manages to break the clinch.
Sapp misses with a head kick.
Duffee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Duffee fails with the takedown.
Duffee throws a head kick that misses.
A nice combination there by Sapp.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sapp dodges the punch combination from Duffee.

Sapp lands a big uppercut and Duffee crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Duffee looks OK. Sapp waves Duffee back to his feet!


Duffee is rocked!


Todd Duffee's cut is getting worse.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sapp closes the distance and clinches.
Oh Duffee is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sapp pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sapp drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Duffee right on the button. Duffee goes down! Sapp follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Sapp gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bob Sapp!
A less than humble Bob Sapp misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
