Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edie Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jerome Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alvarez is fending him off so far but Wilson persists. Nope, Alvarez circles away and we're back to standing.
A combination from Wilson does no damage.
Alvarez throws a head kick that Wilson semi-blocks.


It looks like Jerome Wilson has been cut.
Alvarez with a poor takedown

and Wilson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Alvarez is trying to control but can't.
Wilson moves into full mount! Alvarez won't be happy about that!
Wilson with shots to the head and body - Alvarez looks very uncomfortable down there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alvarez is looking to escape.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Wilson's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Alvarez is trying to stand back up.

Wilson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Alvarez's body.
Alvarez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wilson on the ground.

Alvarez wants to escape the position.
Alvarez rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Wilson wants to control but Alvarez is keeping him busy.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jerome Wilson wasn't active enough on the ground.

Alvarez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Alvarez is pressed up against the cage. Wilson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Alvarez down to the mat. Alvarez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Wilson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Alvarez - the referee stops the clock and Wilson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Alvarez. Wilson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Wilson misses with an uppercut. Alvarez saw that one coming.
Wilson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alvarez as he avoids it easily.
Edie Alvarez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerome Wilson.
Alvarez throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Wilson.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wilson moves into range and clinches up with Alvarez.

Wilson seems to have recovered his senses.
Alvarez can't get the takedown.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wilson is defending well against a takedown attempt.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alvarez.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Horrible takedown by Wilson or perhaps it was just good defense by Alvarez which made him look bad.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Edie Alvarez.
