The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pereira fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fuentes sprawls well initially but Pereira persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Pereira wants to free his trapped foot but Fuentes is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Fuentes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pereira on the ground.
Fuentes wants to get up but he can't break Pereira's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Pereira lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Fuentes!

Pereira is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Fuentes can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Pereira seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fuentes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Pereira might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fuentes haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
