Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricky Lawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bob Barker!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawler throws a head kick but Barker moves out of range.
Barker misses with a takedown attempt

and Lawler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Barker's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lawler is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Barker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lawler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lawler working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Barker's head.

Lawler is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Lawler decides to stand back up. Lawler steps back and let's Barker get back to his feet.
Lawler misses with a two punch combination.
Barker wants to clinch

and Lawler counters with a head kick that drops Barker to the mat! Barker scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Barker is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lawler throws a right and a left that Barker avoids nicely.
Barker is still on wobbly legs! Can Lawler finish him?
Barker tries to clinch up.
Barker seems to have recovered his senses.
Barker fails with the takedown
and Lawler counters with a thumping low kick.

Barker gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lawler won't allow Barker to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barker is trying to hold Lawler in close to prevent damage but Lawler has managed to pass into half guard.
Lawler slips a nice elbow through Barker's hands, connecting with Barker's forehead.
Lawler perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Lawler decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Lawler throws a body kick that misses.

Barker shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lawler counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ricky Lawler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Barker.

Barker working for submissions but it's allowed Lawler to get to half guard.
Lawler slows the pace down in half guard.

Lawler has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lawler lands a nice short elbow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lawler scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Lawler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Barker's guard.

Lawler seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Barker for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Ricky Lawler wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Barker circles away from the clinch attempt.

Lawler closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Barker's guard.

Lawler stops Barker from standing up.

Lawler gets to his feet. Barker looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Lawler counters by clinching up.

Barker tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lawler avoids it.
Lawler throws an elbow that misses.

Lawler turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lawler fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Ricky Lawler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lawler tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

A nice elbow there by Lawler.
Lawler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Barker can do to turn this around?
Barker is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Lawler cracks Barker with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lawler postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Barker in real trouble here! The ref calls for Barker to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ricky Lawler!
Ricky Lawler got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
