PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Lima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clay Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lima comes to the cage accompanied by DMX - Ain't no sunshine. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lima tries to close the distance and clinch up but Matthews swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Matthews dives in and scores a takedown into Lima's guard.
Matthews looking to sit in guard and control but Lima gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Lima won't allow Matthews to get back to his feet.
Lima pushing down on Matthews's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lima trying to control the action but Matthews is working from the bottom.

Matthews has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Lima is on him like a limpet, forcing Matthews back against the cage.

Matthews lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Lima wants to control but Matthews is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Matthews works his foot free and advances to mount.
Matthews prevents Lima from getting the reversal.
Lima suckers Matthews into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Lima is now in Matthews's guard!
Matthews is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lima is controlling him.

Matthews wants to stand up but Lima is controlling him.
Matthews keeping full guard, as Lima tries to pass.
Lima wants to control from the top but Matthews keeps moving.
Matthews wants to get back to his feet but Lima is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Lima wants to stand and escape but instead Matthews has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Lima throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Matthews escapes and throws Lima's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Matthews working the strikes but Lima uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lima is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Matthews trying to mount his opponent but Lima defends it.
Lima has hold of Matthews's hands but Matthews slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Still in half guard, Matthews seems content to control.
Matthews working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Lima is looking to escape.
Lima is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at The Garcia Grappling Academy - Rio that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Matthews is nestled in close to Lima, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lima is refusing to be controlled, as Matthews sits in half guard.
Lima manages to get to full guard.
Lima utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lima manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Lima tries to clinch but Matthews is having none of it.
Matthews connects with a leg kick. Lima looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Lima lands with a cross.
Matthews circles away from the clinch attempt.
Matthews chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lima can pounce on him.

Matthews shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Matthews looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Lima wants to control but Matthews is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Matthews throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Lima to regain full guard.
Matthews is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Matthews wriggles free and stands up.
Lima fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lima tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lima looks to land a right hand but Matthews moved out of range.
Matthews connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
No joy there for Lima, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Matthews is looking to land body kicks.

Matthews bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lima manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lima prevents Matthews from standing back up.
Lima is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Matthews kicks off Lima and gets to his feet.
Douglas Lima is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lima moves out of range as Matthews throws a body kick.
Lima uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Matthews.
Lima tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Matthews jabs at Lima's body.
Lima lands with a kick to the ribs.

Lima darts in trying to clinch
and Matthews counters with a one-two to the body.
Lima closes the distance looking to clinch
and Matthews counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Lima is rocked!

It looks like Douglas Lima has been cut.
Lima wants to stay close but Matthews steps back to make room for something. Lima seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Matthews and Lima drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Clay Matthews!
A relieved looking Clay Matthews thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
