Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Herschel Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Pulis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Herschel Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carl Pulis!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulis lands a leg kick that knocks Ellis off balance momentarily.
Ellis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pulis swivels and escapes.
Ellis circles away from the clinch attempt

and Ellis counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Pulis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ellis leaves Pulis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pulis throws a sloppy head kick and Ellis moves out of range easily.

Ellis instigates a clinch.
Ellis changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pulis fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ellis misses with a few strikes there.
Pulis throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ellis sees it coming and avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pulis.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pulis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ellis sprawls well. Ellis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pulis gets slowly back to his feet.
Herschel Ellis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Pulis.
Pulis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pulis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ellis avoids a kick to the body.
Ellis shoots for a double leg takedown but Pulis sprawls well. He's pushed Ellis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Pulis misses with a body kick.
Pulis avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pulis scores with a spinning back kick!
Pulis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Pulis slips a jab and a cross from Ellis.
Pulis displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Ellis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ellis lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Pulis has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Pulis and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pulis sprawls well. Pulis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ellis gets slowly back to his feet.
Ellis is breathing heavily.
Pulis throws a right hand that Ellis ducks under and follows up with a left that Ellis also avoids with ease.
Pulis tries to bum rush Ellis with a series of wild strikes but Ellis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Pulis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pulis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pulis should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Ellis looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Ellis doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pulis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pulis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pulis wants it to stay on the feet.

Ellis moves into the clinch successfully.
Pulis fails to pull guard.

Ellis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pulis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pulis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ellis pinned against the cage. Ellis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ellis throws a series of punches but Pulis avoids them all with ease.

Ellis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pulis, pushing him back against the cage.

Ellis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ellis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Ellis wants to improve his position but instead Pulis has moved into half guard.
Ellis is looking to improve his position.

Pulis stands up out of the half guard.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pulis sprawls well. Pulis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ellis gets slowly back to his feet.
Pulis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ellis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pulis fails with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Carl Pulis will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ellis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pulis closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Herschel Ellis has been cut.
Ellis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pulis circles away.
Ellis is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Pulis.
Carl Pulis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pulis throws a monster overhand right that drops Ellis! Pulis follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carl Pulis!
