Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rolf Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximus Meridius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rolf Jackson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maximus Meridius!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meridius closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jackson circles away.
Meridius showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jackson.
Meridius shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily.
Jackson looks to score with a jab to the body but Meridius is just out of range.
Meridius shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rolf Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maximus Meridius.

Meridius clinches up with Jackson and pushes him back against the cage.
Jackson prevents a body shot from Meridius.
Jackson wants to get back to striking at distance but Meridius won't allow it.
Jackson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Meridius tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jackson smiles and moves away.
Meridius fails with the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson misses with a straight right.
Meridius looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jackson is fending him off so far but Meridius persists. Nope, Jackson circles away and we're back to standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Meridius will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jackson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Maximus Meridius has been cut.
Meridius uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jackson.
Jackson scores with the left hand. Meridius knows he should have avoided that one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Meridius fails with the takedown.
Meridius looks gassed!

Jackson moves into the clinch.
Jackson wants to get back to striking at distance but Meridius won't allow it.
Jackson lands an uppercut.
Jackson is trying to stall.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jackson throws a right and a left that both miss.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jackson lands with a left to the head.
Jackson scores with a hook to the body.
Jackson wants to get back to striking at distance but Meridius won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Meridius fails to pull guard.
Jackson wants to break the clinch but can't.
A nice left hand lands by Jackson.
Jackson can't break the clinch.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jackson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.


That has opened up Maximus Meridius's cut even more.

Jackson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Meridius fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jackson lands an uppercut.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Meridius avoids the body shot from Jackson.
Meridius uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jackson.
Meridius looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jackson missing with a left hand there. Meridius was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Meridius blocks a low kick nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A punch combination from Jackson misses.
Jackson drops Meridius with a beautiful combination! Meridius stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Jackson is looking for the KO!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jackson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Jackson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.


The cut above Maximus Meridius's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Meridius showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jackson.
Jackson catches Meridius napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Meridius to the canvas!


Maximus Meridius's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Maximus Meridius's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Rolf Jackson!
Rolf Jackson retains his middleweight title!
