PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Knez Lazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrik Haska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haska has chosen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmvDOH44y9Q as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Patrik Haska was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Knez Lazar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Patrik Haska!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haska scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Haska misses with an uppercut. Lazar saw that one coming.
Haska misses with a double jab.

Lazar closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lazar lands in his opponent's guard.
Lazar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lazar gets to his feet - Haska follows without any prompting.

Lazar seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Haska looks to throw the jab but Lazar is out of range.
Lazar dives in and grabs Haska's left leg, looking for a takedown. Haska pushes down on Lazar's head and hops out.
Haska misses with a hook. Lazar ducked under it nicely.
Patrik Haska is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lazar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Haska is fending him off so far but Lazar persists. Nope, Haska circles away and we're back to standing.

and Lazar counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lazar.
Lazar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Haska works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lazar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Haska is keeping the position for now.
Lazar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lazar gets to his feet - Haska follows without any prompting.

Lazar tries to free his leg and advance position but Haska is retaining full guard.

Haska felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lazar is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Haska has managed to free his arm - good work.

Haska is not content to let Lazar control the position.
Lazar is looking to advance position but Haska won't allow it.
Knez Lazar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lazar wants to take a breather but Haska is having none of it.
Haska keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Lazar decides to return to a standing position.

Lazar prevents Haska from getting back to his feet.
Haska really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lazar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lazar stands up from Haska's guard - Lazar perhaps looking for a knockout.
Lazar closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Patrik Haska seems to be getting the better of the standup.
No joy there for Haska, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Haska misses with a hook

and Lazar moves into the clinch.
Lazar is looking for a takedown.
Haska is trying to break the clinch but Lazar has him pressed against the ropes.
Haska wants to break the clinch but can't.

Haska tries to break free but Lazar pushes him back against the ropes.

Haska stops a takedown attempt from Lazar.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Knez Lazar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Haska pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Haska bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Lazar's head backwards.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Haska misses with a two punch combination.
Haska throws a hook to the side of Lazar's head but Lazar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Haska might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Haska is breathing heavily.
Haska connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Haska throws a series of punches but Lazar moves out of range.
Haska throws a right and a left that Lazar avoids nicely.
Haska looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lazar clobbers Haska with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Haska gets caught flat footed, as Lazar shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lazar works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Haska is trying to stand back up but Lazar is controlling him
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Knez Lazar dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Haska gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lazar is looking to work some ground and pound but Haska has wrist control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Knez Lazar wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Lazar feints and as Haska raises his hands in defense, Lazar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lazar throws a big elbow that misses.
Lazar controlling from the top position.
Lazar stands and throws Haska's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Lazar moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Lazar wants to control but Haska is keeping him busy.

Lazar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Haska is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Haska wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Lazar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Haska keeps working.

Lazar tries for a kimura but Haska is defending well.

Knez Lazar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Patrik Haska has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Knez Lazar.
Haska misses the jab.

Knez Lazar showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lazar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
