PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Terry Joyce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Golden kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Joyce quickly recovers to half guard.
Gracie should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Joyce tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control.
Gracie is trying to control the action in half guard but Joyce is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Gracie is working for a kimura but Joyce is defending it quite comfortably.
Gracie is trying to control. Joyce wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Joyce knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Gracie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Joyce!

Gracie gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gracie.
Gracie throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt - Joyce sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Terry Joyce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gustavo Gracie.
Joyce throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.

Gracie throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Joyce tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gracie is in Joyce's guard.
Joyce will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Joyce can't keep his opponent in guard - Gracie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Joyce has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gracie is working away from the top position though.
Gracie is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gustavo Gracie decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
