PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between dominickoy machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ace Portgas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think machida might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to the game. The key to victory for dominickoy machida has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Portgas shoots in but no luck this time.
machida misses with a wild combination.
machida stuffs the takedown.
Some wild striking there from machida.
machida fails with an attempt to clinch.
Portgas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has machida pinned against the cage. machida gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
dominickoy machida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ace Portgas.
machida wants to clinch.
Portgas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Portgas shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Portgas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

machida throws a combination. Portgas tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Portgas swats away the attempt to clinch by machida.
Portgas is on the wrong end of a nice combination from machida.
machida bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Portgas's head backwards.

Portgas scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

machida is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Portgas stops machida from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

machida has his foot on Portgas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Portgas works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

machida working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Portgas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Portgas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Portgas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Portgas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

machida lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Portgas!

machida is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Portgas has managed to escape the submission attempt.

machida looking for a guillotine from mount but Portgas is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that dominickoy machida will probably get the nod.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
