Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jetrone Lagoc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Layne Staley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lagoc comes to the cage accompanied by Before I Forget. Staley has chosen The Rooster as his entrance music. Jetrone Lagoc has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Staley tries to close the distance and clinch but Lagoc swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lagoc throws a series of punches but Staley avoids them all with ease.
Lagoc tries to bum rush Staley with a series of wild strikes but Staley uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Staley goes for a double leg but Lagoc avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lagoc continues to drive forward.
Staley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Staley tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Lagoc is trying to push Staley away but Staley has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Lagoc can't break the clinch.
Lagoc is trying to force a seperation but Staley has the dominant position.
Lagoc is trying to break the clinch but Staley has him pressed against the cage.
Lagoc tries to break free but Staley pushes him back against the cage.
Lagoc has had enough of the clinch but Staley keeps him there for the moment.

Staley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lagoc looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Staley fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jetrone Lagoc has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Layne Staley.

Lagoc throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Staley stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Lagoc misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Staley will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Jetrone Lagoc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Staley avoids the body shot from Lagoc.
Lagoc looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
We've been informed that Staley has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Lagoc will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A combination from Lagoc does no damage.
Staley takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Staley slips a jab and a cross from Lagoc.

Staley lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lagoc circles away quickly and effectively.
