PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tex Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Yoshida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson's entrance music is Trae feat. Hawk - Swang. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tex Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ken Yoshida!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshida misses with a double jab.
Yoshida rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Peterson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Yoshida takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Yoshida shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Peterson as he jumps to the side.

Yoshida changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Peterson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Peterson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Peterson tries to get out of the position.

Yoshida has hold of Peterson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Peterson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Peterson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yoshida on the ground.

Yoshida is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Yoshida gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Yoshida gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Yoshida apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Peterson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Yoshida sprawls well initially but Peterson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yoshida is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Peterson is looking to work some ground and pound but Yoshida has wrist control.

Yoshida escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Peterson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Yoshida is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ken Yoshida will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Yoshida throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Yoshida shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Peterson pinned against the cage. Peterson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yoshida had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Peterson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Yoshida Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Peterson's back instead.

Peterson manages to reverse the position and now he's in Yoshida's guard. Nice work there by Peterson.
