PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rigoberto Compton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Min Ho Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee has chosen Its Alright as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Min Ho Lee will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rigoberto Compton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Min Ho Lee!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Compton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lee blocks a head kick by Compton.

Lee is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Compton's half guard.
Lee controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Compton is looking for a sweep. Lee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lee trying to pass the guard but Compton defending well.
Compton moves into full guard.
Lee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Compton looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lee engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Compton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lee looking to sit in guard and control but Compton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lee wriggles free and stands up.

Compton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lee manages to avoid it.
Lee tries to clinch there but Compton circles away.

Lee has closed the distance and engaged Compton in a clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Lee.

Lee tightens his grip and picks Compton up, before dumping him to the ground. Compton manages to land in guard.
Lee looking to sit in guard and control but Compton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Lee not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Compton trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lee's guard.

Compton gets to his feet - Lee follows without any prompting.

Compton closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lee did well to prevent Compton getting side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lee is trying to maintain the position but Compton is very close to passing his half guard.

Lee tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Compton has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Compton really is a fat lump.
Lee gets back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lee makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Compton blocks a head kick by Lee.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Lee gets control of Compton's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lee will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Lee working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Compton has passed into half guard!
Compton is trying to control the action in half guard but Lee is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Compton prevents Lee from standing back up.
Lee moves into full guard.
Compton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Compton stands up from Lee's guard - Compton perhaps looking for a knockout.
Lee tries to clinch up but Compton circles away and keeps his distance.
Compton misses with a series of wild punches.
Min Ho Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lee closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Compton's guard.

Compton uses the cage to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee stuffs the takedown.

Lee closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Compton to the mat! Compton manages to get full guard.
Lee wants to get up but he can't break Compton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Lee is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lee is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Compton trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but Compton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Lee prevents Compton from getting back to his feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Min Ho Lee hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Lee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Compton was covering up waiting for the punch and Lee finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Lee works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Lee working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Compton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lee is pressing down on Compton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Compton is holding on for now.

Compton is looking to get back to is feet but Lee passes into side control.
Lee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Compton keeps working.
Lee controlling the position from side mount.
Compton is pushing Lee's head away, looking to escape. Lee manages to hold on to the position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Min Ho Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Lee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Lee seems to be working for a kimura but Compton defends the submission attempt.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Compton is on top in guard.
Lee preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Lee looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Compton stops Lee from standing up.
Lee wants to sweep but no luck.
Min Ho Lee has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lee is trying to control the position but Compton postures up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rigoberto Compton.
Compton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Compton gets caught flat footed, as Lee shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Compton is looking to sweep but instead, Lee has passed into half guard.
Compton is not content to let Lee control the position.
Compton flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lee lands a nice short elbow.
Lee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Compton keeps working.
Lee is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Min Ho Lee.

Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Compton is trying to get back to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Min Ho Lee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
