PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Casillas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Eckhoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eckhoff has chosen Walk by Pantera as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Casillas throws a series of punches but Eckhoff moves out of range.

Casillas has taken the fight to the clinch.
Casillas throws an elbow that misses.
Eckhoff wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Casillas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Casillas tries a head kick but it misses.
Casillas lands a high kick!

Eckhoff is rocked!
Some wild striking there from Casillas.
Eckhoff is still on wobbly legs! Can Casillas finish him?
Casillas throws a nice looking combination but Eckhoff bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Eckhoff seems to have recovered his senses.
Eckhoff moves away from the strike by Casillas.
Some bone on bone action there as Eckhoff checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Casillas shoots in for a double leg but Eckhoff sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Casillas attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Casillas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Eckhoff moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A head kick misses from Casillas.
Casillas scores with a sloppy right hand. Eckhoff should have avoided that one.

Eckhoff rushes Casillas and presses him up against the cage.

Casillas lands with a kick to the temple. Eckhoff shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Casillas clinches up with Eckhoff and pushes him back against the cage.

Casillas throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Eckhoff.
Casillas is breathing heavily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Casillas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Casillas throws a right and a left that both miss.
Eckhoff looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

No joy there for Eckhoff, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Eckhoff tries to score a body lock takedown but Casillas shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Eckhoff unloads a knee to the mid-section. Casillas lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Eckhoff wants to break the clinch but can't.

Eckhoff breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Eckhoff is looking to clinch.
Casillas throws a hook but Eckhoff avoids it easily.

Eckhoff rushes Casillas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Casillas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Eckhoff blocks a jab.

Eckhoff fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Casillas, pushing him back against the cage.
Eckhoff wants to break free but Casillas has control.
Eckhoff wants to get back to striking at distance but Casillas won't allow it.
Casillas wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Eckhoff escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Casillas throws a combination that misses
and Eckhoff counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Eckhoff staying out of range there.
Eckhoff avoids a punch combination nicely.
Casillas throws a sloppy head kick

and Eckhoff counters by clinching up.

Eckhoff breaks from the clinch.
Casillas buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Casillas throws a left and a right that both miss

and Eckhoff counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Casillas tries to get to full guard but Eckhoff has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eckhoff tries to stand but can't do so whilst Casillas controls his leg.
Casillas tries to roll over but Eckhoff keeps him under control.
Eckhoff really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Casillas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Eckhoff passes the guard and advances to mount!
Eckhoff with shots to the head and body - Casillas looks very uncomfortable down there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Eckhoff dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Eckhoff swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Casillas.

Casillas throws a lazy head kick

and Eckhoff counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Eckhoff wants to stand but Casillas is controlling his posture from full guard.
Eckhoff postures up in Casillas's guard and throws a big left but Casillas blocks it.
Eckhoff must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Casillas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Casillas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Eckhoff has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Casillas is proving hard to escape from.

Eckhoff loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Eckhoff stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Casillas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Casillas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Casillas wants to sweep but no luck.
Eckhoff trying to stand up but can't free himself from Casillas's guard.
Casillas trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Casillas manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eckhoff is trying to escape the mount but Casillas keeps good control and instead manages to take Eckhoff's back.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Eckhoff breaks Casillas's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Casillas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Eckhoff to the mat! Eckhoff manages to get full guard.

Eckhoff fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Casillas.

and Eckhoff counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Casillas!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Eckhoff cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Eckhoff lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Casillas hang on?
Casillas is looking to improve his position but Eckhoff isn't that keen on the idea.
Eckhoff has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Casillas's face.

Chris Eckhoff comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
