The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoppa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gomez but Gomez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hoppa shoots in for a double leg but Gomez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hoppa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for BJ Hoppa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hoppa closes the distance and clinches up with Gomez, looking for a takedown. Hoppa pushes Gomez against the cage but Gomez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Hoppa counters with a single leg into guard. Gomez didn't expect that.

Gomez pushes a forearm under Hoppa's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hoppa is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
