Soto comes to the ring accompanied by WASP - Wild Child. Rua has chosen For Whom The Bell Tolls. as his entrance music. Sandy Soto could well score a knockout today. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soto throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've been informed that Rua has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Rua fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Soto, pushing him back against the ropes.
Rua utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
We've been hearing reports that Soto has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Rua lands a knee to the body.
Soto can't get the takedown.
Soto tries a knee to the head but Rua blocks it.
Soto pulls Rua into guard.

Rua won't allow Soto to sweep him here.
Rua trying to stand up but can't free himself from Soto's guard.
Rua decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Soto, up you get!
Soto tries to close the distance and clinch but Rua swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Soto throws a head kick but Rua moves out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rua ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Soto moves away.
An inside leg kick from Soto misses.
Soto shoots in looking for a takedown. Rua tries to sprawl out of it but Soto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Rua manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Soto closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rua to the mat! Rua manages to get full guard.

Rua is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Rua avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rua pushes Soto off and gets back to his feet.

Rua smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Soto looks for the body kick but Rua saw that one coming.
Soto wants to clinch up but Rua keeps it at a distance.
Wandeco Rua is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rua tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Soto counters with a series of strikes. Rua will be more careful next time no doubt.
Rua moves out of range of the body kick.

A nice inside leg kick there by Rua. That's going to slow Soto down.
Rua throws a head kick that misses.
No luck for Soto with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sandy Soto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That kick from Rua tenderised Soto's leg. Soto is trying to keep his angry face on.
Rua paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Rua closes the distance and clinches.

Soto tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rua smiles and moves away.
Rua tries to clinch but Soto is having none of it.
Rua has closed the distance and engaged Soto in a clinch.
Soto blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Soto pulls Rua into guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Wandeco Rua hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Soto takes a kick to the side of the head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rua tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Soto manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rua wants to clinch up but Soto keeps it at a distance.
Rua misses the shot to the body.
Soto keeps the fight on the outside.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Soto is defended easily by Rua.
Soto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rua but Rua pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Soto is trying to break the clinch but Rua is controlling him.

Soto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wandeco Rua dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Rua throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sandy Soto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rua tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rua's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Rua duly obliges.
Rua keeps the fight on the outside.
Soto fails with an attempt to clinch.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Rua - that will leave a mark!
Rua fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Soto swats away the attempt to clinch by Rua.
Rua tries to clinch but Soto is having none of it.
Soto throws a series of punches but Rua avoids them all with ease.
Soto misses with a double jab
and Rua counters with a left right combination that sends Soto crashing to the mat - Rua wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Soto out for a TKO! Devastating finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wandeco Rua!
A relieved looking Wandeco Rua thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
