PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Burgh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Orgrim Doomhammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burgh comes into the arena with Oy, da ne vecher, russian folk song blaring out of the sound system. Orgrim Doomhammer told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karl Burgh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Orgrim Doomhammer!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burgh gets a clinch.
Burgh looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Doomhammer is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Burgh is defending well.
Doomhammer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Burgh pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Burgh tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Burgh trying to control the position but instead, Doomhammer has worked for underhooks and has pushed Burgh into the cage.

Doomhammer pulls Burgh into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Burgh preventing the sweep.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Doomhammer is on top in guard.
Doomhammer stands and throws Burgh's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Doomhammer moves into full mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Doomhammer wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Doomhammer forces the positional change into back control.

Doomhammer is working for a rear naked choke. Burgh is not defending it well and Doomhammer has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Burgh refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Burgh's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Orgrim Doomhammer!
In defeat, Karl Burgh stepped up to the mic, saying 'Maybe I have lost but that, that doesn't mean I give up. I shall rise higher and get stronger for my motherland!'.
