PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rolland Vance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Rolland Vance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vance goes for a double leg but Jones avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jones continues to drive forward.
Jones stalling the fight.
Jones has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Vance avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Jones is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Vance to keep the fight standing.

Jones breaks from the clinch.
Jones dives in for a single leg takedown but Vance sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Rolland Vance has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Jones.

Jones pulls Vance into guard.
Jones wants to hit a switch here but Vance passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jones there!
Vance wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely.
Jones reaches up to try and control the position but Vance seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Jones rolls and tries to escape and now Vance has his back!

I really don't envy Jones right now.

Jones tries to escape but Vance has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Jones wants to get back to his feet.

Vance looking for the choke but no joy.
Vance gets his hands free as Jones looks to control.
Jones really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Vance's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.

Vance has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Jones tries to escape but Vance has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Carlos Jones was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Vance misses with a low kick.
Vance tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Vance fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.

Vance might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Vance can't keep his opponent in guard - Jones advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Carlos Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jones is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vance sees it coming and defends easily.

Vance is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Jones jumps into side control!
Vance manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jones's best efforts.

Jones seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vance does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones is keen to just control but Vance is a slippery customer.
Jones is breathing heavily.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Carlos Jones wasn't active enough on the ground.
Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Vance.
Jones misses with a head kick.
Vance shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jones makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Vance is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carlos Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vance paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jones moves into the clinch successfully.
Jones has had enough of the clinch but Vance keeps him there for the moment.
Vance fails to pull guard.
Vance misses with some punches.
Vance looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Vance wants to break the clinch but can't.
Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Vance pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Vance.
Vance shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Jones shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jones was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A lull in the action here as Jones stalls from top position.
Jones scores with punches from side control.
Jones is looking to take a break and control but Vance is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jones is putting a hurting on Vance here, landing some big shots from side control.

Jones working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Vance gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Jones wants to pass to mount but Vance is defending the position.
Vance is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jones scores with a couple of nice shots.

Carlos Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
