PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alex Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Caine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dragon comes to the cage accompanied by Taio Cruz-Dynamite. On his way into the cage it seems that Alex Dragon has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Alex Dragon seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Dragon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Benny Caine!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dragon tried to score with a low kick but Caine checks it.
Caine changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dragon tries to avoid it but Caine manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dragon to the ground. Dragon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Caine.
Dragon looks to land a left hand but Caine moved out of range nicely.
Dragon thuds a left hand into Caine's body.
Dragon misses with a series of wild punches.
Dragon lands a nice hook to Caine's body. Caine takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Caine takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Dragon misses with an uppercut.
Dragon misses with a straight right.
Caine avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Dragon looks to land a left hand but Caine moved out of range nicely.
Dragon takes a swing at Caine's ribcage but misses.
Dragon stalks Caine and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Caine's face. Caine staggers backwards, shaken.
Dragon throws an overhand right that lands on Caine's shoulder, as Caine tries to avoid the shot.
Dragon tries a low kick but Caine avoids it.
Caine shoots in but Dragon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Alex Dragon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benny Caine.
Caine steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dragon.
Dragon throws a low kick but Caine avoids it.
Caine slips a straight right by Dragon.
Caine takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Dragon misses with a body shot.
Alex Dragon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Caine drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dragon is trying to keep Caine in close.
Caine trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Dragon manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Caine controls Dragon momentarily but Dragon frees himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Caine is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dragon is aware though and is defending well.
Caine is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dragon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dragon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dragon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Alex Dragon.
Dragon lands a jab to Caine's midsection.

A big right from Dragon misses.
Dragon misses with a two punch combination.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Dragon.
Caine takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Dragon. Caine does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dragon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Caine manages to avoid it.
A bone on bone clash there as Caine blocks the leg kick.
Caine avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dragon looks to land a combination but Caine avoids it well.
Dragon throws a series of punches but Caine moves out of range.
Caine uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dragon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Dragon dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Dragon misses with a looping right.
Dragon is looking to score with low kicks.
Dragon throws a front kick aimed at Caine's knee but Caine avoids it well.
Dragon misses with an uppercut. Caine saw that one coming.
Dragon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Caine.
Dragon throws out a loose jab but Caine uses good head movement to avoid it.
Dragon throws a hook to the side of Caine's head but Caine sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Caine moves away from the strike by Dragon.
Dragon listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Caine takes one on the button.
Caine tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dragon swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Caine feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dragon has control of Caine's left arm, preventing Caine from doing any damage.

Caine looking to improve position, pressing down on Dragon's thigh with his hand. Dragon seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Caine paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Caine's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Dragon picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
