Turunen has chosen Requiem for a Dream as his entrance music. Kia Turunen is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turunen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mela sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Turunen somewhat.
Turunen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mela but Mela pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mela closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mela is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Turunen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Turunen is trying to get back to half guard.
Mela cracks Turunen with a big right hand but Turunen just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Mela has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mela is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Turunen has escaped the position, nice work there.

Mela tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mela has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Turunen takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

The referee asks Mela politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mela prefers to stall for the moment though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mela looks up at the clock and then as Turunen takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mela smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
A big shot lands for Mela! That's hurt Turunen! Will he recover? Mela fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
