PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan McClelland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Strong Arm Steady. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Quinton Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bryan McClelland!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McClelland misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jackson throws a jab but it's blocked by McClelland.
Jackson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Jackson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jackson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with McClelland's elbow.
Jackson digs a right hand into McClelland's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on McClelland's gas tank.
The referee calls for Jackson to work.
Jackson goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
McClelland is trying to pull guard but Jackson has him pressed against the ropes.

McClelland pulls guard effortlessly.
Jackson chips away with some ground and pound.
McClelland can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jackson controls the pace.

McClelland looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jackson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
McClelland wants to sweep but no luck.

Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and McClelland has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between McClelland's legs - danger averted.

McClelland has momentary wrist control but Jackson slips an elbow through the middle.
Jackson pushes down on McClelland's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McClelland has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jackson is working away from the top position though.

Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jackson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

McClelland wants to control but Jackson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jackson lands a nice short elbow.
McClelland wants to get back to full guard.

Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McClelland does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jackson is really struggling to control McClelland but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Jackson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

McClelland looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

McClelland is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jackson pulls his head out easily.
Jackson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Jackson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Jackson is nestled in close to McClelland, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Quinton Jackson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


McClelland is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Jackson doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! McClelland crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in McClelland's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Quinton Jackson!
A very excited looking Quinton Jackson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Bryan McClelland spoke after the fight, saying 'I think it's funny he knew I was going to do that!'.
