PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chad Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinnie Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ortiz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Eminem - Not Afraid. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Black darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Ortiz wants to get back to his feet.

Black decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Ortiz tries to clinch up
and Black cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Black circles away from the clinch attempt
and Black counters with a one-two to the body.

Black pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Black closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Black working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Ortiz tries to get to full guard but Black has control of the leg.

Black stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Black closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ortiz quickly recovers to half guard.
Ortiz wants to control but Black passes into side.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Black decides to stand back up.
Vinnie Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Black shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Black stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Ortiz to get to his feet.
Black dives in for a single leg takedown but Ortiz sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Ortiz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Black smiles and moves away.
Black tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ortiz defends well and Black ends up having to push Ortiz into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Black changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ortiz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Black decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ortiz to his feet.

Black shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ortiz is trying to defend but Black finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Black working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Black! Ortiz is hurt baaadly! Black is firing away with more strikes - Ortiz is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
