PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Creel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Samba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samba comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bezerker by Love Among Freaks kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Creel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Christopher Samba!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Samba shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Creel napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Creel tries to bench press Samba off him but Samba keeps the position.
Creel is trying to control Samba's posture but Samba avoids it.
Samba throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Creel taking punishment in the form of punches.
Creel is looking for a sweep.
Creel avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Samba.
Creel definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Creel tries to buck Samba off but Samba is having none of it.
Creel is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Samba throws a strike aimed at the side of Creel's head but Creel avoids it well.

Creel tries to bench press Samba off him but Samba keeps the position.
Samba wants to control but Creel is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Creel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Creel takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Samba scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Creel to see if he's OK.
Samba throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Samba gets to mount! Creel was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Samba working the ground and pound effectively.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Creel is looking to improve his position but Samba isn't that keen on the idea.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Creel on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Samba. Samba obviously looking to wear him down.
Samba stalks Creel and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Creel's face. Creel staggers backwards, shaken.
A jab from Creel does it's job there.
Samba lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Creel buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Samba looks to land a right hand but Creel moved out of range.
Samba misses with a low kick.
Samba's corner calls for a 1-2. Samba obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Creel.
Creel lands a leg kick that knocks Samba off balance momentarily.
Creel misses with a low kick.
Samba throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Creel looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Samba is looking to land body kicks.
Samba uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Samba shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Creel pinned against the cage. Creel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Samba throws the kick towards the body but Creel avoids it.

Creel lands a big head kick that sends Samba tumbling to the mat! Creel takes a step backwards and waves Samba back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Christopher Samba has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Samba lands a nice leg kick that just misses Creel's sensitive parts.
Samba throws the kick towards the body but Creel avoids it.
Creel takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Samba throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Samba throws a solid leg kick but Creel takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Samba.
Samba is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Samba shoots for a double leg takedown but Creel sprawls well. He's pushed Samba's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Creel throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Samba counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Creel wants to control but Samba is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Samba landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Samba is trying to control the action in half guard but Creel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Creel won't allow Samba to pass to mount.
Creel has his hands clasped together around Samba's back. He's all about the action.

Christopher Samba has got the better of the ground game so far.
Samba prevents Creel from improving his position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The fighters are battling for position here. Creel manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Samba wants to control from the top but Creel keeps moving.
Creel is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Creel is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Samba misses with a hook. Creel ducked under it nicely.
Christopher Samba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Samba throws a low kick but Creel avoids it.
Samba tries to score a power double leg takedown but Creel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Samba somewhat.
Carl Creel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Christopher Samba.
Samba moves out of range of the body kick.
Creel takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Creel throws a head kick but Samba moves out of range.
Creel is looking to land body kicks.
Samba takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Samba stuns Creel with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Creel stuffs the takedown.
Creel misses with a looping right.
Creel on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Samba takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Samba wants to land a leg kick but Creel is out of range.

Creel feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Samba's calf.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Samba attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Both fighters circling a little - Creel finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Samba has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Samba is breathing heavily.
Creel lands with a good body shot.
Jab, jab by Creel - just one landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Christopher Samba's cut.

Creel misses with an uppercut.
Creel throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Creel throws a sloppy head kick and Samba moves out of range easily.
Creel lands a lovely overhand right.
A big left from Creel misses.
Creel looks for the body kick but Samba saw that one coming.
Creel looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Creel backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Samba's temple! It sends Samba violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Creel celebrates and the doctors try to help Samba!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Carl Creel!
In his post fight interview, Carl Creel gave a big smile as he said 'When shitlips comes to ask him how it feels to be another one of the cans i have beat? Wonder if he still thinks im not a real opponent? Har. Go back to Evo and dry hump some more of that so called elite competition and when you want another ass whooping you know where to find me.'.
The defeated Christopher Samba had this to say: 'Its about time we get some competent officials over here in London, what a joker!'.
