PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mason Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Rolinha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dixon comes into the arena with It's A Fight by Three 6 Mafia blaring out of the sound system. Rolinha has chosen Paul Engemann - Push It To The Limit as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mason Dixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Rolinha!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dixon lands with a cross.
Rolinha shoots in but no luck this time.
Rolinha doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Rolinha changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dixon tries to avoid it but Rolinha manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dixon to the ground. Dixon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dixon works Rolinha's body with a nice hook.
Dixon lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Dixon scores with a nice right hand.

Dixon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rolinha controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dixon is on top in guard.

Dixon would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rolinha is looking for a triangle but Dixon pushes his legs off easily.
Dixon won't allow Rolinha to get back to his feet.
Dixon has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rolinha is proving hard to escape from.

Dixon slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Rolinha tries to buck Dixon off but Dixon is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dixon decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Rolinha tries a low kick but Dixon avoids it.
Rolinha fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mason Dixon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Rolinha.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rolinha tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dixon swivels and escapes.
Rolinha looks gassed!
Dixon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rolinha stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dixon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rolinha tries for a takedown but Dixon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dixon tries to bum rush Rolinha with a series of wild strikes but Rolinha uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Dixon wants to clinch.
Dixon scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Rolinha closes the distance and clinches up with Dixon, looking for a takedown. Rolinha pushes Dixon against the cage but Dixon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rolinha looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rolinha is breathing heavily.
Dixon avoids the head kick by Rolinha.

Rolinha shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dixon pinned against the cage. Dixon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mason Dixon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paulo Rolinha.
Dixon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rolinha throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dixon's waist but Dixon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rolinha off to one side.

A left and a right from Dixon both land. Nice combination.
Dixon scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Rolinha swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Rolinha takes one to the side of the head.

Rolinha is rocked!
Dixon lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Rolinha falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
