Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Duggy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cowboy Cerrone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jim Duggy had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Duggy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cowboy Cerrone!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cerrone misses with a few strikes there.
Duggy shoots in and drives through. Cerrone sprawls well.
Cerrone misses with a wild combination.
Duggy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cerrone but Cerrone pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Duggy tries to clinch up but Cerrone circles away and keeps his distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duggy shoots in for a takedown but Cerrone shows good takedown defense.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Cerrone tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Cerrone tries to pull guard but Duggy holds him up against the cage and eventually Cerrone drops back down to his feet.

Cerrone tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Duggy has gone for a leg lock! Cerrone slips out almost immediately though and dives into Duggy's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cerrone fails to land with a series of punches.
Duggy wants to clinch up but Cerrone keeps it at a distance.
Duggy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cerrone paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Cerrone counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cerrone.

Duggy has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Cerrone is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Duggy.

Duggy manages to get to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cerrone trying to control the position from guard on top but Duggy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cowboy Cerrone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Duggy instigates a clinch.
Duggy jumps guard but Cerrone stands there with Duggy around his waist. Duggy gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Duggy tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Duggy tries to land knees in the clinch but Cerrone avoids the damage to the body.
Cerrone tries to pull guard but Duggy holds him up against the cage and eventually Cerrone drops back down to his feet.
Cerrone has had enough of the clinch but Duggy keeps him there for the moment.

Cerrone tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Duggy just stands there and leans against the cage.

Duggy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Cerrone counters with a left and a right that stings Duggy.

Duggy closes the distance but Cerrone moves to the side
and Cerrone connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Oh Duggy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Duggy shoots in looking for a takedown. Cerrone tries to sprawl out of it but Duggy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cerrone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Duggy seems to have got his legs back now.
Duggy shoots for a double leg takedown but Cerrone sprawls well. He's pushed Duggy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Duggy closes the distance and clinches up with Cerrone, looking for a takedown. Duggy pushes Cerrone against the cage but Cerrone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cerrone lands a left and a right that sends Duggy crashing to the canvas! Cerrone dives into mount looking to finish!

Cerrone goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Duggy is on top in guard.

Duggy is looking for a kimura but Cerrone is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Duggy to get the leverage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cerrone gets full guard.
Duggy is pushing down on Cerrone's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cerrone is fighting to maintain full guard but Duggy has managed to sneak the leg through.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Duggy working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Cerrone's thigh. Cerrone counters though and makes it back to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cowboy Cerrone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Cerrone winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
