Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andre Bishop has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Josh Thomas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andre Bishop!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas avoids a punch combination nicely.

Thomas forces Bishop back against the cage and clinches.
Bishop goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Bishop is trying to push Thomas away but Thomas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Bishop pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bishop tries to clinch but Thomas is having none of it.

Thomas moves into the clinch successfully.

Thomas breaks from the clinch.
Thomas shoots in for a double leg but Bishop sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Bishop tries to sprawl but Thomas drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bishop is trying to stand.

Thomas postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Bishop to stand up.

Bishop wants to stand but Thomas is controlling the position.

Thomas tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bishop defends well and Thomas ends up having to push Bishop into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Thomas has picked Bishop up - he's going for a ride! Thomas dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Bishop really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thomas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thomas's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Thomas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Thomas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bishop tries to kick Thomas off but Thomas keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Thomas throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bishop was covering up waiting for the punch and Thomas finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bishop is looking to stand up but Thomas isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bishop steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Thomas. That one must have hurt.

Thomas is trying to trip Bishop. He has hold of a leg but Bishop is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Thomas persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Bishop wants to get back to his feet but Thomas passes into half guard.
Bishop takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Thomas uses his free foot to push down on Bishop's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bishop.

Thomas seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bishop for as long as he can get away with.

Thomas has hold of Bishop's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Bishop seems comfortable defending it but Thomas has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Bishop is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Bishop is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Thomas couldn't care less - he's delighted!
