Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Marcelo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Pedro Marcelo has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Pedro Marcelo seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marcelo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ribeiro is fending him off so far but Marcelo persists. Nope, Ribeiro circles away and we're back to standing.
Marcelo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ribeiro pinned against the cage. Ribeiro gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ribeiro dives in for a single leg takedown but Marcelo sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Ribeiro jumps guard but Marcelo stands there with Ribeiro around his waist. Ribeiro gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Marcelo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Marcelo pulls guard effortlessly.
Ribeiro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marcelo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ribeiro pushes down on Marcelo's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Ribeiro is looking for a kimura but Marcelo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ribeiro to get the leverage.

Ribeiro is controlling the pace.
Ribeiro wants to pass the guard but Marcelo is defending well.
Marcelo is looking for a sweep. Ribeiro is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ribeiro is looking for a kimura but Marcelo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ribeiro to get the leverage.
Marcelo is trying to get back to full guard.
Ribeiro wants to control but Marcelo is keeping him busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ribeiro is trying to remain composed but Marcelo is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Marcelo shoots in but Ribeiro avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Ribeiro is fighting to break Marcelo's control of his arms but Marcelo is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Ribeiro is looking to improve his position but Marcelo isn't that keen on the idea.
Marcelo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Marcelo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ribeiro can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Marcelo throws a right and a left that Ribeiro avoids nicely.
Ribeiro throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marcelo's waist but Marcelo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ribeiro off to one side.

Marcelo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ribeiro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Marcelo stands up and we're back to a striking position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Marcelo is on top in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Pedro Marcelo just wasn't active enough.
Marcelo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ribeiro as he jumps to the side.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ribeiro enables Marcelo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ribeiro manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pedro Marcelo.
Marcelo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ribeiro stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
