Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chase Ries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Monkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chase Ries!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vincent Monkey!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monkey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ries manages to avoid it.
Monkey loads up on a big right hand but Ries slips the punch.
Ries throws a body punch but Monkey moves out of range.
Ries throws a hook to the side of Monkey's head but Monkey sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Monkey fails with the takedown.
Ries throws a jab when Monkey was well out of range.
Chase Ries seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ries misses with a straight right.
Ries comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Ries takes a swing at Monkey's ribcage but misses.
A left lands for Ries.
Ries misses the shot to the body.

Monkey scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Monkey has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at 11th Planet Fitness ($300/wk). Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ries moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Monkey postures up and lands a big shot to Ries's brow.

Ries wants to stand and escape but Monkey is having none of it.
Monkey throws a strike but Ries rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Monkey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ries's guard.

Ries manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Monkey is trying desperately to improve position.

Monkey keeps trying to improve his position.

Monkey tries to hold on but Ries postures up.
Ries trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Monkey is looking to improve his position but Ries isn't that keen on the idea.

Ries controlling from the full mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Monkey tries to hold on but Ries pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vincent Monkey will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ries throws a jab but it's blocked by Monkey.
Ries scores with a hook to the body. Monkey takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Ries tries to clinch up.

Monkey shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ries manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ries trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Ries working for submissions but it's allowed Monkey to get to half guard.

Ries is trying to stand back up but Monkey is controlling him

Monkey is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ries looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Monkey working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ries's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ries is looking to stand up but Monkey isn't so interested in that idea.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ries is on top in guard.

Ries scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ries throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Monkey keeping moving, preventing Ries from controlling successfully.
Monkey controls Ries momentarily but Ries frees himself.

Monkey wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Ries is now in half guard.
Ries throwing shots but Monkey is blocking nicely.
Ries throws a strike but Monkey avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Ries wanted to stand there but Monkey had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Monkey is on top in guard.
Monkey is looking to work some ground and pound but Ries has wrist control.
Ries striking from his own guard.
Monkey connects with a couple of short punches.
Ries looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Ries trying to keep a closed guard but Monkey is proving a slippery customer.
Ries tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ries is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Monkey is controlling him.
Monkey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Monkey prevents Ries from getting back to his feet.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Ries is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ries will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Monkey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ries works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Monkey postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Ries wants to get back to his feet but Monkey is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Monkey throwing strikes but missing.
Monkey must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ries thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Monkey won't allow Ries to get back to his feet.
Vincent Monkey has got the better of the ground game so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Monkey postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Ries wants to get back to his feet but Monkey is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ries trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chase Ries will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Monkey uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ries.
Ries connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Ries lands the left hand.
Monkey misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Ries misses the jab.
Ries thows a body shot but no joy.
Monkey closes the distance and clinches up with Ries, looking for a takedown. Monkey pushes Ries against the cage but Ries circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Monkey staying out of range there.
Monkey throws a poor cross that misses
and Ries counters with a straight right hand.
Ries lands a jab to the nose.
Ries swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Ries ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Monkey moves away.
The fighters circling - Ries throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Good shot there by Ries.
A big right from Ries misses.
Monkey misses with a body shot.
Ries avoids the body shot from Monkey.
Ries moves out of range as Monkey strikes.
Ries works over Monkey's head and body with a nice combination.
Ries cracks Monkey with an open hand slap.
Ries misses with a straight right.
Ries scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Nice sprawl there from Ries as Monkey shoots in.
Chase Ries has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vincent Monkey.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Ries just misses with a punch to the body.
Monkey moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Ries throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Monkey moves away from the strike by Ries.
Ries waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Monkey.
Ries lands a right hook to the body.
Ries swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Monkey uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ries.
Ries tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Monkey was well out of range. Poor timing from Ries.
Monkey walks into a jab.
Monkey moves into range and connects with a jab.
Sloppy strikes from Ries. Those never looked like landing.

Ries uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Monkey.
Monkey gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Ries scores with a jab. Monkey acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Ries misses with a wild body shot.
Monkey swings for the body but Ries moves out of range.
Monkey shoots in looking for a takedown but Ries manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Monkey's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Monkey is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ries rather than just go for the knockout.
A punch combination from Ries misses.
Monkey throws a shot from downtown. Ries moves away and avoids it.
Monkey has a takedown stuffed.
Monkey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ries avoids it really well and circles away.

Monkey tries to move into range but Ries moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Ries misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ries scores with a punch to the head.
Chase Ries is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Ries scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Monkey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ries.
Ries lands with a right hand.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ries fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nice uppercut there from Ries.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chase Ries showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ries has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
