Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bart Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Jhones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perry kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Tupac- Hail Mary. Steven Jhones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steven Jhones!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Perry shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Perry showed some decent athleticism there.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Perry is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Perry seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jhones for as long as he can get away with.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Perry lands a nice short elbow.

Perry controlling the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Bart Perry wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Perry dives in and scores a takedown into Jhones's guard.

Perry manages to break the clinch.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jhones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Perry in particular looking to stall.
Perry wants to pass the guard but Jhones is defending well.

Jhones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perry. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Perry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jhones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Perry has control of Jhones's left arm, preventing Jhones from doing any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Perry misses with a looping left.

Jhones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Perry forces his way into half guard.

Perry decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Perry moves into the clinch successfully.
Jhones is working for takedown but Perry is calmly controlling the position for now.

Perry is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jhones can't fight it off and eventually Perry manages to take the fight to the floor. Jhones looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Perry controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Bart Perry wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Perry gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A lull in the action here as Perry stalls from top position.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bart Perry.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jhones enables Perry to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jhones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jhones has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Perry stands up from guard. Let's bang!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Perry has taken the fight to the clinch.
Perry is pressed up against the cage. Jhones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Perry down to the mat. Perry avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Perry throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Jhones tries to sprawl but Perry drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Jhones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Perry is thwarting Jhones's attempts to control the position.
Perry is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Perry throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Perry stands up out of the half guard.
Perry throws a sloppy head kick and Jhones moves out of range easily.

Perry drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jhones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jhones is trying to escape the position but Perry is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Perry has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Perry closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Perry lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Perry controls the position.

Perry advances to mount.
Perry controlling the pace for now.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Perry swings and misses with a hook to the body.
