Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mikko Hovimaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cesys Kazlauskas!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kazlauskas has his takedown stuffed
and Hovimaki counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kazlauskas goes for a double leg but Hovimaki avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hovimaki continues to drive forward.
Kazlauskas is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hovimaki is defending well.
Mikko Hovimaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cesys Kazlauskas.
Kazlauskas is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hovimaki gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kazlauskas is trying to drag Hovimaki to the mat but Hovimaki just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

It looks like Cesys Kazlauskas has been cut.

Hovimaki takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

and Hovimaki counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mikko Hovimaki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Hovimaki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kazlauskas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hovimaki pinned against the cage. Hovimaki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Hovimaki makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Kazlauskas misses with a takedown attempt - Hovimaki sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Hovimaki counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Cesys Kazlauskas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Hovimaki counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hovimaki leaves Kazlauskas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kazlauskas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hovimaki sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kazlauskas somewhat.
Kazlauskas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hovimaki as he jumps to the side.

Hovimaki keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Kazlauskas tries for a takedown but Hovimaki circles away easily
letting Hovimaki counter with a right hand.
Hovimaki is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Kazlauskas gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hovimaki.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kazlauskas tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hovimaki defends well and Kazlauskas ends up having to push Hovimaki into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

and Hovimaki counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Kazlauskas out cold! What a finish! Hovimaki is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mikko Hovimaki!
Mikko Hovimaki was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
