PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sub Jigster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tomasz Knap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sub Jigster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tomasz Knap!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knap circles away from the clinch attempt

and Knap counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Knap.

Knap breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jigster closes the distance and clinches up with Knap, looking for a takedown. Jigster pushes Knap against the cage but Knap circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Knap fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jigster, pushing him back against the cage.
Jigster tries to score a body lock takedown but Knap shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Knap breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Knap shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jigster defends it nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jigster.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sub Jigster. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Knap fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Knap moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jigster tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Knap breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jigster wants to clinch up but Knap keeps it at a distance.
Knap fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Knap gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Knap manages to break the clinch.
Sub Jigster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Knap dives in for a single leg takedown but Jigster sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Knap escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Knap is defended easily by Jigster.
Knap fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Jigster fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Jigster drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Jigster working the ground and pound but Knap is defending the strikes.
Knap sneaks back into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Knap wants to get back to his feet.
Jigster not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Knap has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jigster is working away from the top position though.
Jigster stops Knap from getting back to his feet.
Knap looks winded!

Knap is staying active underneath Jigster, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jigster working Knap over with strikes.
Knap is trying to stand up here but Jigster is controlling him well.

Jigster is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Jigster missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Knap really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jigster. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jigster is working for a kimura but Knap is defending it quite comfortably.
Knap wants to improve his position but Jigster is controlling well.
Jigster has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jigster not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Jigster working over Knap with some ground and pound. Knap looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jigster seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Knap does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Knap tries to roll over but Jigster keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jigster wants to lay and pray for a moment but Knap keeps working.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jigster looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Knap tries to get to full guard but Jigster has control of the leg.
Jigster lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jigster is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Knap sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sub Jigster dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Jigster fails with a takedown attempt.
Sub Jigster is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jigster stuffs the takedown.
Jigster lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Jigster changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Knap tries to avoid it but Jigster manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Knap to the ground. Knap escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Jigster. No joy for Knap on that attempt.
Jigster throws the kick towards the body but Knap avoids it.
Knap shoots in for a double leg but Jigster sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sub Jigster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tomasz Knap.
Knap avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Knap gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jigster to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Jigster's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Knap wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jigster wants to control from the top but Knap keeps moving.
Jigster throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Knap works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jigster throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Knap working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jigster.
Jigster is in close to Knap's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jigster pushing down on Knap's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Jigster throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jigster seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Jigster landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Jigster is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Knap sees it coming and defends easily.

Jigster looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jigster is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Knap defends it well.

Jigster wants to take a breather but Knap is having none of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Knap wants to improve his position but Jigster is controlling well.

Knap flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Jigster is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Knap is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sub Jigster!
Sub Jigster took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
