Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rory Kirkpatrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Morn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rory Kirkpatrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ryan Morn!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirkpatrick shoots for a takedown but Morn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Morn closes the distance and clinches.

Morn jumps guard and drags Kirkpatrick to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kirkpatrick is looking to work some ground and pound but Morn has wrist control.
Morn has Kirkpatrick pulled in close to control his posture.
Kirkpatrick controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Morn tries to strike from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Morn wants to sweep but no luck.
Kirkpatrick trying to control the position from guard on top but Morn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kirkpatrick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Morn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kirkpatrick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kirkpatrick shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morn as he jumps to the side.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morn scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Horrible takedown by Kirkpatrick or perhaps it was just good defense by Morn which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rory Kirkpatrick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are getting on Morn's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.

Kirkpatrick stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Morn is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kirkpatrick is controlling him.
Kirkpatrick throws a big right hand that misses.
Morn is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kirkpatrick wants to control from the top but Morn keeps moving.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Kirkpatrick thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Kirkpatrick drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kirkpatrick jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kirkpatrick tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kirkpatrick has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kirkpatrick tries to score with some ground and pound. Morn controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Kirkpatrick goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Morn has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kirkpatrick but great work by Morn.

Kirkpatrick is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Morn off and has taken his back!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Kirkpatrick's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kirkpatrick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rory Kirkpatrick dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A decent looking body kick lands there for Kirkpatrick.
Morn shoots in for a takedown but Kirkpatrick shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kirkpatrick dives in and grabs Morn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Morn pushes down on Kirkpatrick's head and hops out.
Morn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kirkpatrick sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Morn somewhat.

and Morn counters by clinching up.
Kirkpatrick takes an elbow to the forehead.
Kirkpatrick has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Morn after a bit of a struggle.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Morn gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kirkpatrick manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Kirkpatrick working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Morn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Morn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rory Kirkpatrick overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kirkpatrick looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Morn is defending well. Kirkpatrick quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Morn has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Kirkpatrick celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rory Kirkpatrick!
An out of breath Rory Kirkpatrick thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
