Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shinji Kagawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scotty Nguyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scotty Nguyen struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kagawa clinches.
Nguyen taking a breather.
Kagawa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nguyen wants to get back to striking at distance but Kagawa won't allow it.
Kagawa misses with a punch on the inside.
Kagawa is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Nguyen is defending well for now.
Kagawa is struggling to control the position.
Nguyen prevents a takedown attempt there.

Kagawa will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Nguyen up against the ropes.
Kagawa jumps guard and drags Nguyen to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Nguyen is standing up over Kagawa. Kagawa looks to escape but Nguyen dives into side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
You can see the frustration on Kagawa's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kagawa is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Nguyen's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Kagawa tries to roll over but Nguyen keeps him under control.

Nguyen is sitting in close to Kagawa's body. Kagawa has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Nguyen is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Nguyen is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Kagawa.
