PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruiner Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barnett has chosen canceled forever 125 as his entrance music. Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 29 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ruiner Barnett!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnett lands with a cross.
King dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Barnett throws a chopping leg kick but King manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Barnett fakes high and swings low for a body shot but King manages to avoid it.
King thumps Barnett with a low kick.

King lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
A decent looking body kick lands there for King.
Barnett looks winded!
Good leg kick by King there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

We've been told by King's head coaches at VENDETTA Elite Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
King fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Barnett is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Barnett misses with a short punch on the inside.

King throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Barnetts head.
King throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

King breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

King closes the distance and clinches.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from King.
King lands with a short shot to the head.
Barnett's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
A right hand to the body from King.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

King manages to break the clinch.
King stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
An inside leg kick from King misses.
King lands a leg kick that knocks Barnett off balance momentarily.
King connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
King throws a nice inside leg kick.
Barnett tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

King shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
King wants to pass the guard but Barnett is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King moves into full mount! Barnett won't be happy about that!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnett is looking to improve his position but King isn't that keen on the idea.

We're going to have a standup here because Brian King wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with King in particular looking to stall.

King tries to pass to full mount but Barnett defends it.
Still in half guard, King seems content to control.

Brian King has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
King attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

King's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and King duly obliges.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Barnett displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as King throws out the jab.
King goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
King throws a hook but Barnett blocks it.

Barnett fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and King has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Barnett avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Barnett slips a straight right by King.
King goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
King connects with a crisp jab.

King closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Barnett quickly recovers to half guard.

Barnett tries to regain full guard. Instead though, King has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Barnett keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Barnett is breathing heavily.

Barnett tries to reverse the position but King maintains control.

King tries to pass the half guard into mount. Barnett knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

King tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
King prevents Barnett from getting the reversal.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Brian King wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Barnett takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

King throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Barnett sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Barnett takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters circle momentarily. King darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

King does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barnett circles away quickly and effectively.
King connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
King cracks Barnett with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
King takes a swing at Barnett's ribcage but misses.
No joy there for King, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Barnett throws out a loose jab but King uses good head movement to avoid it.
Barnett throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
King misses with a jab, cross combination.

King tries to clinch but Barnett moves out of range.

Barnett shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Barnett's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A very excited looking Brian King rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
