The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gaston throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Parantainen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Parantainen blocks a head kick by Gaston.
Parantainen has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gaston.
Gaston looks to score with a jab to the body but Parantainen is just out of range.
Gaston misses with a jab, cross combination.
Parantainen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gaston.
Gaston gets caught flat footed, as Parantainen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gaston is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Parantainen is controlling him.

It looks like Parantainen might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Parantainen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Parantainen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Gaston will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Gaston has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gaston there as he acknowledges the shot.
A nice leg kick lands there from Parantainen.
Parantainen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gaston pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Parantainen takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Gaston does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gaston has momentary wrist control but Parantainen slips an elbow through the middle.

Parantainen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gaston is looking to stand up but Parantainen isn't so interested in that idea.
Parantainen postures up in Gaston's guard and throws a big left but Gaston blocks it.
Parantainen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gaston wants to stand but Parantainen is controlling the position.
Gaston is wriggling around but Parantainen manages to pass to half guard.
Parantainen seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Parantainen is looking to take a break and control but Gaston is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Parantainen misses with a head shot. Gaston uses the momentum to regain guard.

Parantainen has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Gaston doesn't defend quickly enough and Parantainen has managed to lock this one up! Can Gaston escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Parantainen on a fantastic submission victory.

Jaakko Parantainen decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
