Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Terry Pratchett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pratchett closes the distance and clinches up with Maeda , looking for a takedown. Pratchett pushes Maeda against the cage but Maeda circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pratchett lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Pratchett.

It looks like Royce Maeda has been cut.
Pratchett fails to land the takedown.
Maeda keeps the fight on the outside.

Pratchett shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pratchett was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Maeda wants to control but Pratchett is having none of it.

Pratchett swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Maeda is now in Pratchett's guard. A big mistake from Pratchett there, giving up the dominant position!

Pratchett bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Maeda 's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Maeda is on top in guard.
Maeda is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pratchett wants to stand but Maeda is controlling the position.

Maeda decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pratchett, up you get!

Pratchett lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Maeda backs up against the cage.
Terry Pratchett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pratchett is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Pratchett throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pratchett tries to bum rush Maeda with a series of wild strikes but Maeda uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Maeda looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Pratchett drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maeda manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pratchett has Maeda in his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pratchett wants to stand but Maeda is controlling the position.
Maeda controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Maeda has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pratchett wants to get back to his feet but Maeda is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pratchett lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Maeda !

Pratchett shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Maeda as he jumps to the side.
Pratchett will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pratchett shoots in for a double leg but Maeda sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Pratchett wants to get back to full guard but Maeda has passed into side control.

Maeda looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Maeda is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pratchett can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Maeda is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Pratchett has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pratchett misses with the combination.
Maeda misses with a takedown attempt - Pratchett sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Maeda shoots in but Pratchett avoids the takedown attempt easily.

The referee warns Maeda that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Maeda is desperately trying to improve his position but Pratchett has a good base and remains in mount.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pratchett loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Maeda scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Pratchett land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Pratchett stands and salutes the crowd.
