Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Yoshida Kotaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kotaro comes to the cage accompanied by Dance Yourself Clean. Ricardo Rodriguez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Yoshida Kotaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ricardo Rodriguez!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kotaro throws a nice head kick!
Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kotaro as he avoids it easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Yoshida Kotaro will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rodriguez throws a looping overhand right but Kotaro ducks down to avoid it.

Ricardo Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rodriguez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kotaro with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kotaro has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rodriguez is working away from the top position though.

Kotaro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rodriguez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kotaro is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Rodriguez has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kotaro has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
