Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Punchy Puncherson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Puncherson comes to the cage accompanied by Mama Said Knock You Out. Punchy Puncherson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Punchy Puncherson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Brown!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Ben Watson and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've been informed that Brown has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Brown gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Puncherson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Puncherson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Brown defends it well.
Puncherson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Puncherson lands a nice short elbow.
Puncherson lands strikes from half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brown is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Puncherson pulls his head out easily.
Brown wants to get back to full guard.
Brown wants to control but Puncherson is keeping busy.

Puncherson is looking for a kimura but Brown is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Puncherson to get the leverage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Puncherson is nestled in close to Brown, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Puncherson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brown's head.
Puncherson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brown does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Puncherson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Puncherson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Puncherson is just content to waste time from the top position. Brown takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Puncherson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Puncherson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Puncherson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Brown keeping full guard, as Puncherson tries to pass.
Puncherson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Puncherson works over Brown with some ground and pound from guard.
Puncherson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Puncherson chips away with some ground and pound.
Puncherson stands up over Brown, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Brown working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Puncherson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Brown is tightening it up a little... Puncherson has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Puncherson reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Puncherson taps out! Nice BJJ there by Brown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). James Brown!
