PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Elija McIntosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wee Peen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elija McIntosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wee Peen!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peen scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Peen stalling.
Peen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McIntosh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Peen prevents McIntosh from improving his position.
McIntosh tries to kick Peen off but Peen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Peen content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Peen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
I looks like Peen might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Peen wants to pass the guard but McIntosh is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peen lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
McIntosh wants to control but Peen is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Peen sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. McIntosh defending well though.
McIntosh is trying to stand.
Peen is figuring out what he wants to do next.
McIntosh is trying to get back to full guard.
Peen controlling the action here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Peen blocks the strikes from McIntosh.
McIntosh taking some punishment here, with Peen in his half guard.
Peen wants to stand up but McIntosh manages to regain full guard.
Peen controlling from the top position.
McIntosh trying to control the position.
Peen passes easily into side control. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peen working the ground and pound from side control.
McIntosh is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Peen off and has taken his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McIntosh is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. McIntosh gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. McIntosh gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. McIntosh apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Peen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McIntosh wants to control but Peen postures up.
Peen just content to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McIntosh stops Peen from passing to mount.
Peen remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
McIntosh is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Despite being in the dominant position, Wee Peen just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McIntosh shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Peen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wee Peen dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Peen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Peen decides to pull guard.
McIntosh wants to get up but he can't break Peen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Peen has a closed guard, preventing McIntosh from standing up.
Peen controlling McIntosh's posture.
McIntosh might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McIntosh's guard.

McIntosh can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Peen controls the pace.
Peen postures up.
Peen preventing the sweep.
Peen postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Peen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Peen wants to control from the top but McIntosh keeps moving.
McIntosh controls Peen momentarily but Peen frees himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Peen is working McIntosh over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Peen won't allow McIntosh to sweep him here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Peen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Peen throwing shots but McIntosh is blocking nicely.
Peen is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Peen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Peen stands up and beckons McIntosh to join him on the feet.
Peen is breathing heavily.
McIntosh doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Peen counters with a nice double leg into side control. McIntosh won't be happy with that.

McIntosh tries to bench press Peen off him but Peen keeps the position.

McIntosh is looking for a sweep.

Peen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at McIntosh to see if he's OK.

Peen cracks McIntosh with a big elbow.
Peen is chipping away with strikes.
Peen is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Wee Peen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! McIntosh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


McIntosh shoots and misses

and Peen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McIntosh's guard.
McIntosh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Peen is stalling in the full guard.
Peen wants to pass the guard but McIntosh is keeping the position.
Peen controls from within his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Peen postures up in McIntosh's guard and throws a big left but McIntosh blocks it.

McIntosh can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Peen controls the pace.

McIntosh sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Peen is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Peen looking to control and managing it successfully.

Peen pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
McIntosh tries to hold on but Peen pushes him away.
Peen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McIntosh tries to lock up and control but Peen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
McIntosh is desperately trying to improve his position but Peen has a good base and remains in mount.
Peen lands a heavy elbow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Peen content just to control the position here.
McIntosh tries to hold on but Peen pushes him away.
McIntosh is bucking up trying to escape but Peen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
McIntosh is trying desperately to improve position.
Peen fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Peen sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Peen lands a nice shot to the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Wee Peen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Peen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
