Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Evan Better (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Better comes to the cage accompanied by Mother by Danzig. Bird is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Face the pain - Stemm. Alan Bird has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Evan Better's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Evan Better!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alan Bird!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Better displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bird.
Bird shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Better counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bird won't be happy with that.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Better has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Better is looking to take a break and control but Bird is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bird seems a little lost for a moment, as Better dominates the positioning.

Better stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Better dives in and scores a takedown into Bird's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Better not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bird not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Better gets to his feet. Bird looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Bird takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Better forces Bird back against the cage and clinches.
Better lands a knee to the body.

Better breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Better closes the distance and clinches.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Better has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Bird is trying to keep an underhook but Better manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Better is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Bird reverses the position - he's now on top in Better's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Better is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bird defends well.

Better manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Better decides to pull guard.
Better manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Bird in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Better tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Better wants to control the pace but Bird is squirming around nicely.
Bird is controlling an arm, preventing Better from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Better working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Better lands a big shot there that rocks Bird but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Bird is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position.
Bird tries to hold on but Better postures up.

Better wants to finish this one by submission but Bird is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Better.
Better cracks Bird with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Better pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Better connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Better takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Better working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Better controlling the pace for now.

Better gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Better shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bird is trying to defend but Better finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Better looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Better scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Bird wants to control but Better is keeping busy.
Bird is pressing down on Better's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Better trying to control the position from guard on top but Bird is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bird wants to get back to his feet but Better is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Better shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bird but Bird pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bird dives in and grabs Better's left leg, looking for a takedown. Better pushes down on Bird's head and hops out.
Evan Better is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A punch combination from Better misses.
Better moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Better is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bird can do to turn this around?

Better blocks an uppercut.
Bird stops a takedown attempt from Better.

Better keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bird's head.

Better has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bird has his foot on Better's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Better works his way back into a safe position though.
Better is working Bird over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Better is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bird is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Bird regains half guard there - taking advantage of Better's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Better wants to control from the top but Bird keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bird is working an open guard so Better takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Better throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Better scores with a shot to the body.
Better slaps away a takedown attempt from Bird, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Better scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Better lands a nice shot to the body.
Better pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bird is looking to clinch but Better is avoiding it.

Well, if Better is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Bird takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bird trying to hold on to Better's head to control him but Better postures up.
Better stalling.

Better is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bird is just riding it out for now. Better eventually gives up the hold.

Better seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bird does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Better is really struggling to control Bird but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Better is taking a breather. Bird says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
