The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De La Vega drives through and clinches with Wardrop against the cage.

Wardrop has clasped his hands together around De La Vega's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Wardrop throws an elbow but De La Vega slips to the side and avoids it well.

Wardrop breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wardrop changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De La Vega tries to avoid it but Wardrop manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De La Vega to the ground. De La Vega escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

De La Vega manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

De La Vega tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Wardrop avoids it.

Wardrop changes levels and goes for a takedown here. De La Vega fights it off and pushes away nicely.

De La Vega has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Wardrop has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Wardrop is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by De La Vega.
