Hart kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hide Your Tears. Washington has chosen Right Above It as his entrance music. Gary Washington acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hart takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Washington changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Hart moves into the clinch successfully.

Hart is fighting off a takedown attempt but Washington is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hart to the mat. Hart regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hart controls Washington momentarily but Washington frees himself.

Hart bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Washington's guard.
Hart prevents Washington from getting back to his feet.

Washington manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Nice uppercut lands for Washington. That snapped Hart's head back.
Hart shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Washington sprawls well. Washington wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hart gets slowly back to his feet.
Hart shoots in for a double leg but Washington sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hart takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Washington fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hart has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Washington has picked Hart up - he's going for a ride! Washington dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Washington is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hart doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Washington.

Washington is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hart is just riding it out for now. Washington eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Washington is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hart is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Washington is trying to work for a kimura but Hart is defending well.

Washington works his way into side control.
Hart is looking for a sweep.
Washington scores with a couple of short elbows.
Hart tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Washington wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Washington is trying to get an arm triangle but Hart is defending well.
Hart takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Washington decides to stand back up.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Washington moves into range and clinches up with Hart.

Washington has Hart pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Washington pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hart tumbling to the mat - Washington dives into Hart's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hart closes the distance and clinches up with Washington, looking for a takedown. Hart pushes Washington against the cage but Washington circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hart has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Washington finds it's way round the side to connect with Hart's head.
Washington connects with an inside leg kick.
Washington lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hart shoots for a takedown but Washington saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Washington moves into range and connects with a jab.
Washington lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Hart dives in for a single leg takedown but Washington sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Hart. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Washington has clasped his hands together around Hart's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Washington wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hart, who protects the arm well.

Washington decides to return to a standing position.

Hart gets tackled into the cage by Washington. Washington maintains the clinch.
Hart has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Washington is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hart drops down looking for an ankle pick but Washington pulls his leg out and moves away.

Washington connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hart's hands.
Washington scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hart in his tracks.
Hart misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hart takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Hart tries a head kick but it misses.
Washington fails with an attempt to clinch.
Washington takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hart takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Horrible takedown by Hart or perhaps it was just good defense by Washington which made him look bad.
Washington connects with a jab.

Hart misses with a takedown attempt - Washington sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hart seems to have got his legs back now.
Washington pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hart back to the cage. Washington follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Washington works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
