The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salemaea looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Salemaea is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Hotsauce closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Salemaea to the mat! Salemaea manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hotsauce postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hotsauce has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hotsauce drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hotsauce jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hotsauce connects with a nice short shot to Salemaea's temple.
Salemaea looks like he's trying to stand up.
Salemaea has hold of Hotsauce's hands but Hotsauce slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Hotsauce looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Salemaea with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hotsauce winds up and cracks Salemaea with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hotsauce is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hotsauce looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Hotsauce working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hotsauce is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Salemaea defends it well.

Hotsauce throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hotsauce lands a nice short elbow.

Hotsauce is working for a kimura but Salemaea is defending it quite comfortably.

Salemaea felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Salemaea wants to control but Hotsauce is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Salemaea is refusing to be controlled, as Hotsauce sits in half guard.
Hotsauce is nestled in close to Salemaea, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hotsauce is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Salemaea sees it coming and defends easily.

Salemaea closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hotsauce's guard.
Hotsauce is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Salemaea is controlling him.

Salemaea stops Hotsauce from standing up.
Hotsauce avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Salemaea stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hotsauce swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hotsauce is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Salemaea is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Salemaea throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hotsauce works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salemaea is looking to advance position but Hotsauce has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
