The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
River is looking to slow Brown down with leg kicks.

Brown changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. River looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
River is looking for a sweep.
Brown in side control lands a decent elbow.
River taking a bit of punishment here - Brown scoring with strikes.
Brown connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused River some visible discomfort.
River sneaks back into half guard.

River looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Brown throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Brown takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Brown lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

River is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Brown pulls his head out easily.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Brown lands a nice short elbow.

River is looking for a triangle but Brown pushes his legs off easily.

River escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brown gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Brown makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Brown distracts River with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

River avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Brown content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Brown blocks a head kick by River.

Brown closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming River to the mat! River manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
River utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Brown postures up in River's guard and throws a big left but River blocks it.
Brown has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

River is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

River has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brown can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. River swivels though and keeps the full guard.

River lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brown!

Brown is trying desperately to improve position.

River is working for a guillotine from mount but Brown frees his head quite easily.
Brown wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by River.
Brown flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

River is standing up, even though he is in mount.
River fails in his attempt to clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
River cracks the inside of Brown's front leg.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
River throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris River dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



River gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown lands a couple of elbows.
Brown throwing strikes from guard but River blocks nicely.

River looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Chris River has got the better of the ground game so far.

Brown is posturing up here but River has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Brown tries to roll out but it's too tight and Brown has to tap! Slick submission there by River!
