Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Trunks Brief (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stryder Ryu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stryder Ryu will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brief feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ryu is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Brief drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brief jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ryu is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Brief still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Brief has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Brief is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ryu knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Brief swings around for an armbar but Ryu sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Brief's guard.

Ryu is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brief is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brief is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Ryu is defending well though. Brief let's go of the attempt for now.

Ryu's jab looks to have found its range, popping Brief under the eye.

Ryu closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ryu wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Brief changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ryu fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ryu lands a glancing blow to the side of Brief's head.
Ryu dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Stryder Ryu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ryu moves into the clinch successfully.
Ryu lands with a short shot to the head.
Brief jumps guard but Ryu turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Ryu is fighting off a takedown attempt but Brief is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ryu to the mat. Ryu regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Brief definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brief slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Trunks Brief wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Ryu scores with a nice strike.
Brief takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Trunks Brief has been cut.

Brief changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ryu fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trunks Brief. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Brief is stalling here. Ryu is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Brief seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Ryu has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Trunks Brief will probably get the nod.

Ryu circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ryu goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Brief wants the takedown. Ryu is fighting it off but Brief persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ryu's guard against the cage.

Ryu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brief gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
