The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Watanabe.
Gate is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Watanabe.

It looks like William Gate has been cut.
Watanabe throws a right hand that Gate ducks under and follows up with a left that Gate also avoids with ease.
Watanabe's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Watanabe duly obliges.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Watanabe misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gate has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Watanabe moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Gate shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gate dives in and grabs Watanabe's left leg, looking for a takedown. Watanabe pushes down on Gate's head and hops out.
Watanabe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gate fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Gate. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Oooooh!!! Watanabe has knocked Gate down with a huge combo! Watanabe steps away and waves a wobbly Gate back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Gate is rocked!
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Gate. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Gate shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Watanabe pinned against the cage. Watanabe gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Watanabe stuffs the takedown.
Watanabe has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Gate shoots in for a takedown but Watanabe shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Watanabe drops Gate with a beautiful combination! Gate stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Watanabe is looking for the KO!
Oh Gate is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

William Gate's cut is getting worse.
Watanabe grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Gate takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Watanabe cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
