Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shane Hennings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darius Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darius Ellis is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Hennings!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darius Ellis!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hennings misses with an attempted mid kick.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Darius Ellis hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Hennings goes for a double leg but Ellis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ellis continues to drive forward.

Hennings is trying to trip Ellis. He has hold of a leg but Ellis is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hennings persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Hennings remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
